INTRODUCTION
The following terms and conditions govern all sales by Akrona Instruments (we, us, our) to any purchaser (you, your).
ORDERING, PAYMENT, SHIPPING, AND INSURANCE
Please refer to the terms and conditions given on our ‘Ordering’ page, akronainstruments.com/ordering, which apply to all transactions with us, in addition to the terms and conditions given on this page.
We cannot accept any liability for consequential loss of any late, or damaged shipments, however caused.
We reserve the right to refuse an order if there are any payment verification problems, and any payment which has been collected will be refunded in this instance.
USE OF GOODS PURCHASED
Items sold by us are NOT sold as working items and are intended for collecting purposes only.
DESCRIPTIONS
The prime source of information for all items is the photos provided. We may also give physical details about the item given in the descriptions, and while every care is taken, the descriptions are not exhaustive, and the following limitations apply to the descriptions given by us on the website or by other means:
- Dimensions and weights of the items are approximate only.
- Dates, histories, and makers information where provided, are based on the best information available to us but cannot be guaranteed accurate.
Due to the age and nature of the items sold by us, it is not feasible to advise every defect in the item descriptions. The following are types of information that may not be listed:
- Defects, modifications, imperfect repairs, or absent or incomplete components which are evident from the photos.
- Makers labels, or Instrument accessories for which a space exists in the case or container, but which are not present.
- Wear and tear or deterioration which is common or typical for the age of the item. Examples include: tarnished, worn, damaged, corroded, or absent finishes; scratches, scuffs and minor dents etc; frayed or cracked or perished rubber, fabric, leather, or bindings; worn or absent markings on spirit bubbles; etc.
- Minor defects which are common or typical for the age of the item. Examples include: paint touch-ups; missing cross hairs or sight wires; absent or imperfect latch hooks, keys, covers, or straps for containers and cases; dirt and contamination within optical components or under glass covers; moving parts which are stiff or difficult to move, or move imperfectly; one or two missing screws from multi-screw assemblies; damaged or worn screw threads; etc.
HAZARDOUS ITEMS
You are responsible to be research any risks associated with the items you purchase, and any illness or injury sustained through handling, use, or abuse of items supplied is entirely your risk and responsibility. The following are examples of specific risks:
- Old electric or battery powered items – it is NOT recommended to apply power to these items as older insulation materials and components may have degraded and carry the risk of electric shock or fire. We do NOT carry out any electrical testing on these items before sale.
- Green compass cards or green makers’ green labels from the 1800’s were dyed with arsenic, and are hazardous even to touch.
- Luminous markings on instrument dials, particularly military compasses, from the early 1900’s until the 1960’s contain Radium which is radioactive.
RETURNS POLICY
On the rare occasion that an item was mistakenly described by us, and therefore did not meet your expectations, please contact us immediately upon receipt. Upon further review, we will authorize you to ship the item back to us by a ‘Signature Required’ shipping service, at your cost.
When the item is received in original ‘as sent’ condition, we will refund the purchase price of the item, but excluding any taxes, shipping, or handling charges incurred in sending the item to you.
MISCELLANEOUS
All sales and transactions are governed by the laws and regulations of New Zealand, and the New Zealand courts have exclusive jurisdiction in the event of any dispute.

CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may change these terms and conditions at any time by uploading revised terms and conditions onto the website. The change will apply from the date that we upload the revised policy. These terms and conditions were last updated on 20 August 2021.
